Study and preparation timeline by school level
P4 November: Headstart programme
The jump from P4 to P5 is steep. The syllabus broadens significantly in all subjects. Starting in November of P4, Overmugged's Headstart Programme gives your child a warm-up on the foundational P5 topics before school begins, so they enter P5 ahead of the curve rather than scrambling to catch up.
P5: Master foundational topics
P5 is where the PSLE foundation is built. Students who enter P6 with weak P5 concepts will struggle to keep pace with the P6 revision workload. The focus in P5 is deep mastery of core topics across all four subjects.
P6 January to April: Foundational building
Review P5 and early P6 concepts thoroughly
Identify weak topics in each subject and address gaps systematically
Build a consistent daily study routine of 1.5 to 2 hours after school
P6 May to June: Exam preparation
Master the answering techniques MOE examiners are looking for in each subject
Complete full mock exams under timed conditions during the June PPP
Use the June school holidays for intensive focused revision blocks
P6 July to August: Exam prep and oral preparation
Take Prelim and mock exams seriously, treat them like the real thing
Analyse every mistake and close remaining weak areas
Practise Reading Aloud daily ahead of the 12 to 13 August oral exams
Prepare for Stimulus-Based Conversation using current affairs topics
P6 September: Final revision and written papers
Light revision only, avoid attempting new topics at this stage
Revise key formulae, vocabulary lists, and Science keywords
Prioritise sleep, consistent nutrition, and mental well-being
