PSLE 2026 Key Dates, Deadlines & Exam Schedule

If you have a P6 child in 2026, the PSLE calendar is the most important document in your house. Every revision plan, every tuition schedule, every school holiday activity — it all needs to be planned around these dates.

This guide compiles the key PSLE 2026 dates, deadlines, and exam schedule that every Singapore primary school parent needs to know — from the start of P6 through to secondary school posting.

Important note: MOE typically releases official PSLE dates in the first quarter of the year. The dates below are based on historical patterns and official MOE announcements. Always verify against the MOE website and your child's school calendar, as dates can shift slightly year to year.

PSLE 2026 Exam Schedule Overview

The PSLE is sat across two components: the written papers and the oral examinations. Both begin before the main school examination period, and P6 students will be pulled out of regular classes for oral components earlier in the year.

PSLE Oral Examinations (English and Mother Tongue)

Oral examinations for both English Language and Mother Tongue Language are typically held from mid-August. These are conducted at your child's primary school during school hours.

  • English Language Oral Examination: Typically scheduled in mid-to-late August 2026. Your child's school will inform you of the specific date.

  • Mother Tongue Language Oral Examination: Also typically in mid-to-late August 2026, often within the same window as the English oral.

The oral examinations are often the most under-prepared component of PSLE. Many families focus entirely on written papers and leave oral practice too late. Start oral preparation by June at the latest.

PSLE Written Examinations 2026

The PSLE written papers are typically held across the first two weeks of October. Based on historical MOE scheduling, the 2026 written examination window is expected to run from early to mid-October.

  • English Language (EL): Typically across two days in the first week — Paper 1 (writing) and Paper 2 (language use and comprehension) on separate days.

  • Mother Tongue Language (MTL): Written paper typically in the first or second week of October.

  • Mathematics: Papers 1 and 2 on separate days, typically in the second week of October.

  • Science: Typically scheduled in the second week of October.

PSLE Results Release 2026

PSLE results are typically released in mid-to-late November, approximately six weeks after the written examinations conclude. Results are collected at the child's primary school by the student. Parents are welcome to accompany their child.

Secondary School Posting Exercise 2026

After PSLE results are released, the Secondary 1 Posting Exercise begins. This is when your child submits their secondary school choices in order of preference.

  • Choice submission window: Typically opens the day after results are released and closes approximately one week later.

  • Posting results: Typically released in late December. Students report to their posted secondary school in early January.

  • Choices allowed: Up to six school choices, in order of preference.

Other Key Dates for P6 Students in 2026

School Preliminary Examinations (Prelims)

Most primary schools hold Preliminary Examinations in August or September, approximately 4–6 weeks before the actual PSLE. Prelim dates vary by school. Prelims reveal exactly which AL bands your child is tracking for in each subject while there is still time to adjust preparation.

Weighted Assessment 1 (WA1)

Typically held in March, WA1 is the first formal assessment of the P6 year. While it does not directly contribute to the PSLE score, it is an important early indicator of where your child stands and which subjects need the most attention before the oral examinations.

Mid-Year Examinations (MYE)

Typically held in May or June, the Mid-Year Examinations are the most significant internal assessment before Prelims. A strong MYE result provides momentum into the second half of the year. A weaker result is a clear signal to intensify preparation — there is still time.

June School Holidays

The June school holidays — typically four weeks, late May through late June — are the single most important revision period for P6 students. Families who use the June holidays well consistently see the most significant improvement between MYE and Prelims.

The June holidays are not a break. They are the last extended revision window before Prelims. Use them with a plan.

The PSLE 2026 Preparation Timeline

Working backwards from the October examination window, here is how to think about the P6 year:

  • January–March: Establish baseline. Identify which subjects need most work. Build study routines. Prepare for WA1.

  • April–May: Intensive subject preparation. MYE revision. Begin oral preparation for English and MTL.

  • June holidays: Structured full-day revision. Past paper practice. Targeted weak-area work. Oral technique refinement.

  • July–August: Prelim preparation. Oral examinations. Exam technique and time management under exam conditions.

  • September: Final revision sprint. Past papers under timed conditions. Rest and recovery built in.

  • October: PSLE written examinations. Light revision only between papers. Sleep, nutrition, and mental state are the priority.

What to Do Right Now

The most useful thing any PSLE parent can do today is map out the remaining time between now and October, identify the key milestones (WA1, MYE, June holidays, Prelims, orals, written papers), and work backwards to figure out how much structured preparation time is available.

Then ask: is your child's current preparation pace sufficient to close the gap between where they are now and the AL bands they need in each subject? If the answer is no — or if you are not sure — that is the signal to act.

How Overmugged Structures the PSLE Year

Our PSLE Preparation Programme is built around this exact calendar. We don't just teach content — we pace preparation against the milestones that matter.

  • 22-Month Programme (P5 entry): Maximum runway. By the oral examinations, students have been building skills for nearly two years.

  • 10-Month Programme (P6 entry, January 2026): Every milestone — WA1, MYE, June holidays, Prelims — is used deliberately.

  • Milestone-based tracking: Parents receive regular updates on their child's AL band trajectory so there are no surprises at Prelims or results day.

The PSLE calendar is fixed. What is not fixed is how much of it your child uses effectively. A structured programme makes every week count.
