JC Cut-Off Points for 2025

Updated: Jan 10

Singapore students who took the 2024 Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level examinations will receive their results on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 2:30 PM. School candidates can collect their results directly from their respective secondary schools, while private candidates can access their results online via the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board’s (SEAB) Candidates Portal from 3:15 PM the same day.

What Comes Next: Joint Admissions Exercise

Following the release of the O-Level results, students will need to enter the next crucial phase of their education journey—the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE). The JAE allows students to apply for admission into junior colleges (JCs), Millennia Institute (MI), polytechnics, and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).

The JAE Internet System (JAE-IS) will be open for applications starting from 4:00 PM on January 10, 2025, and will close at 4:00 PM on January 15, 2025. During this period, students should make their choices carefully based on their results and educational aspirations.

Choosing your ideal Junior College

For students aiming to join a Junior College, the cut-off points are a key consideration. Historical trends suggest that JC cut-off points remain relatively stable year to year, offering a reliable guide for planning.

For example, in 2024, top Junior Colleges such as Raffles Institution and Hwa Chong Institution maintained their cut-off points at 2-5 for the Arts stream and 2-4 for the Science stream—consistent with the figures from the previous year in 2023. Similarly, many other JCs showed minimal to no variation in their cut-off points.

This consistency means students can confidently refer to the 2024 JC cut-off points as they begin thinking about their ideal JC options. Detailed cut-off points from 2024 are available here:

Planning Ahead

Students are encouraged to take this opportunity to research their options and consider factors beyond just academic results. Attending open houses, speaking with teachers and alumni, and reflecting on personal interests and career goals can help ensure a well-rounded decision.

As the countdown to January 10 begins, students should also take time to celebrate their efforts and prepare themselves to embark on the next chapter of their academic journey.
